Simple Yet Sweet Sugar Cookies
Description
This is how you can make some delicously soft sugar cookies!
Ingredients

4 tbsp (1/4 cup) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp almond extract
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2. Cream the butter and sugars together in a small bowl until light and fluffy
- 3. Add egg yolk, vanilla, and almond extract. Mix until fully combined.
- 4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- 5. Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- 6. Scoop dough into 1–1.5 tablespoon-sized balls.
- 7. Place on baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Flatten slightly with your fingers or a glass bottom for more traditional sugar cookies.
- 8. Bake for 8–10 minutes, just until the edges are set and barely golden. The centers will look soft—don’t overbake.
- 9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
