Chocolate Chip Cookies

Description

This is how you can make some delicously soft sugar cookies!

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp (1/4 cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp almond extract
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 2. Cream the butter and sugars together in a small bowl until light and fluffy
  3. 3. Add egg yolk, vanilla, and almond extract. Mix until fully combined.
  4. 4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. 5. Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  6. 6. Scoop dough into 1–1.5 tablespoon-sized balls.
  7. 7. Place on baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Flatten slightly with your fingers or a glass bottom for more traditional sugar cookies.
  8. 8. Bake for 8–10 minutes, just until the edges are set and barely golden. The centers will look soft—don’t overbake.
  9. 9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
